''INITIAL STUDY ON THE NATURE OF ORBS'' - June 2002

This research project began in 2000 when we discovered what appeared to be mobile luminous circles of light in photographs taken with Kodak film cameras using 800 speed film. These were mainly found in photos taken at night using flash, but also (less frequently) using no flash. In 2001 we also began discovering them in images taken with our new digital cameras as well. From what we've learned from the photographs, a wide range of experiments, and input from a large variety of other sources: The 'orbs' in our isolated study site consist of a complex energy structure of billions of atomic 'parts'. They become photographable only when exposed to a large number of photons (light), such as from a camera flash, OR when they have attracted/collected a larger density of free electrons around their outer mantles (no flash positive photo results).
One of the primary mechanisms which make the 'orbs' in our study photographable is called fluorescence, which is 'normally' only associated with minerals. Fluorescence caused by a beam of light (photons) is also called photoluminescence. The 'simplified' planetary model at the right illustrates theoretically how an electron orbiting around an atomic nucleus (protons/neutrons) can be impacted by incoming photons, such as from a camera's flash--causing them to temporarily jump to a higher level orbit. Photons (green) from a light source impact orbiting electrons which cause them to move to a higher energy orbit. When the electrons return to their original orbit (normal quantum state), photons (red) are released! The release occurs more slowly in 'solid type' minerals, but within milliseconds within the 'orbs'. That's why 'orbs' in a high energy density state seem to look flat instead of what a similar sized 'solid matter' sphere like a baseball looks like when light is 'reflected' back from it. The Mechanism of Fluorescence

Electrons will not form a sphere on their own. Without something to hold them together, they will immediately spread out in all directions to get away from each other. The energy configuration of the orbs is closest in nature to ball lightning, which has been classified as a 'natural' earthly form of plasma energy or plasmoid type matter (the fourth 'highly excited' structure form of matter--or top of the range, which includes denser energy forms of solids, liquids and gases) . It is our theory that ball lightning is actually simply lower atmospheric 'orbs' which have been exposed to/collected an extreme surplus charge of electrons, at which time they would move very rapidly to the closest and best source to ground and "offload" the excess above their normal capacitance. This would serve to 'rebalance/realign' the sphere back to it's natural or 'non-excited' atomic quantum state (when the higher energy orbit activities can cause them to release photons). At this point the sphere would become "invisible" to our eyes again. They may also become "visible" in certain specific cases where flash photoluminescence occurs, or in specific atmospheric or strong electro-magnetic field conditions which can be found all around the world.
We HAVE seen them with our naked eyes during experiments, but unlike the 'colorful' camera images, they appeared as pale grey spheres (not shiny), suspended in the air all around and above us. The potential mechanism which allows this to momentarily occur during the camera's flash is known as photoluminesence. Researchers are also reporting good success with experiments using strobe lights set up in areas with NO other external light interferences. They range in size from very tiny to an average of two to three inches in diameter. Less common but still observed on rare occasions, are up to 12 inch diameter spheres at ground level. Based upon both photos and visible sighting reports being received, much larger sized spheres 'seem' to occur at higher altitudes, including cloud levels or in mountainous regions. We have witnessed them ourselves, but it would be impossible to guess their sizes 'accurately'.

It is also our theory that the unexplained visible luminous balls of light which have been reported and captured by cameras and video equipment by locals throughout history in such well-known mystery locations as Hessdalen, Norway, Marfa, Texas, and Brown Mountain, North Carolina to name just a few--are actually these same types of plasma orbs/energies whose outer mantles have picked up a denser level of electrons and/or which may be affected by certain atmospheric gases from time-to-time. Theoretically 'orbs' moving through areas emitting invisible combustible type gas seeps such as methane could also become 'visible' when it comes in contact with denser plasma matter electron interaction. Methane seeps can occur at random over bodies of water and from terrestrial rock fissures or 'swamp gas' locations. Additionally, reports of 'visible orbs' can be found in many locations around the world that have either natural or man-made sources of very strong electromagnetic field action going on either above or below ground. Excess free electrons attracted to the orbs' outer mantles like a 'magnet' type action, would provide the quantum physics for them to generate their own 'visible' light until they move out of the range of these atmospheric stimulations allowing them to drop back down to their normal 'less-excited' atomic quantum states. These increases in energy densities are generally reported to be temporary, and not at a full ball lightning charge stage.
The orbs can move electrons in their outer mantle to a concentrated location, which forces some electrons to leave their aligned magnetic domains (magnetic fields). With regard to mass, they have only a minute amount of weight and inertia, so that is enough to propel them very rapidly in any direction. The ejected electrons will release photons in the process. This rapid action can be recorded by camera equipment, but cannot "generally" be seen by our naked eyes. The orientation of the outer mantle 'holes' which develop on their outer spheres (can be single/multiple or half, if imaged on outer perimeters) 'may' play a role in which direction the sphere will go. Further studies are needed.

Our own earth also has a magnetic field which theoretically looks like a bunch of rubber bands stretched out around a middle donut, with a dense center rotating at a slightly faster speed, to 'create' our own protective container/shield. A very 'huge' magnetic domain of energy forces (to we small humans, anyway). Mother Earth is also quite capable of shifting her 'unstable' magnetic poles around from 'time-to-time' throughout history, and this is known to scientists as electromagnetic field reversals.

The orbs can pass easily without interference through what we would consider as solid objects, but they normally do not "fry" electrical appliances and cause other damage that ball lightning can cause due to the excess electrons. A dense concentration of them did cause equipment failure during an indoor experiment--potentially similar to a transient electromagnetic pulse effect. Upon receiving the replacement Kodak digital camera under warranty, we discovered it recorded the orbs in exactly the same way as the first one had done.

Because the orbs have electrons moving around in their mantle, they will release wide spectrum electromagnetic radiation that can be detected with other types of equipment such as handheld electromagnetic field detectors. The problem with trying to get any recorded 'useful' numbers is that plasma energy orbs vary at any given time in energy density (changing constantly) and also they can move around very fast. This makes it impossible for researchers to get 'repeatable' stable patterns.

Orbs can also be detected by using special equipment, including infrared spectrum cameras/videocams. This sensitive camera equipment can image colors such as red associated with heat (which are just outside of our normal visible spectrum band), without being able to 'physically' detect heat radiation. An example of color associated somewhat with heat radiation may be shown by calling attention to the familiar electric kitchen stove. As a stove heats up, one notices the feeling of warmth before there is any indication of color, but at a certain temperature, the stove covers glow with a dull red color. This color changes with temperature, however, becoming more yellow and perhaps finally white hot as the temperature increases, at which time it is found that a very wide range of wave lengths is being emitted. Equipment sensitized for infrared is capable of detecting these radiations long before the stove becomes hot enough to glow visibly, and even in the dark. Since the orbs we are studying do not radiate any heat which can be physically detected by us during our work with them (even at their densest energy 'white' state), it seems this equipment may be recording the low level photon emissions from them just outside of our normal visible range. This could lead to many interesting new discoveries, for those who can afford to pursue this line of research.

They are otherwise undetectable by us, as they do not have an odor or make sounds (although experiments are underway in the Netherlands with equipment which seems to pick up sounds which correlate with electron activity).

Another 'unique' thing about plasma energy orbs is that from time-to-time denser energy ones will develop what appears to be a 'nucleus' structure like a structured 'hole' on their outer mantle structures. As you can see from Res-105, and a lower density energy nucleus orb (containing another more solid looking sphere inside) from the photo below, Res-116. Depending upon atmospheric conditions, these may develop into multiple nucleus openings which can be seen directly or on the edges (will look like a smaller half arc sphere of darkness on outer perimeters). These peculiar types of formations/structures do not match any controlled experiments done using solid or liquid particulate or aerosol matter with a variety of different equipment. They 'may' be related to propulsion mechanisms. Please refer to the Table of Contents - Section VI, "Unified Field Plasmoids and the Quantum Theory", for further thoughts about this aspect.

Another one of the puzzles is why the 'orbs' develop prominent outer ring structures, when energy vacancies seem to be "filled" and they begin to turn a more solid looking light color--generally more white.

As the light from the flash goes through the orbs, each of the layers shown by the vertical lines will generate its own photons. The flash to shutter timing speed, as well as "fully opened" aperture leaves is critical, as this will establish which areas of the orbs' light will be recorded when their own light is instantly radiated back to the camera.

Any small point of 'unfocused' light can also develop a 'similar' denser outer ring of light from time-to-time in your images, as we have seen from studying particulate matter/aerosols/liquids imaged at a pixel level (from 'contrived' experiments). However these types have very small pixel counts when the spheres are placed inside a grid box. Water drop internal refraction/reflection points being the smallest at a range of up to 5 x 5, versus bonafide orbs within camera range of 100 x 100 to 200 x 200 plus ('one' mathematical form of litmus test we use for our OWN equipment against established base ranges). You will need to do your own experiments, due to slight variations in equipment/manufacturers/softwares, in order to determine your own sample control and 'ranges'...

They function in ambient temperatures and atmospheric pressures. Like ball lightnings, they are NOT hot temperature wise, but could have the affect of heating objects which they pass through, depending upon the level of electron density which they are packing at any given moment, as described in our theories on visible atmospheric plasmas above. We have determined that the plasma orbs in our isolated research study do seem to have a limited capacitance with regard to size ranges and amount of free electrons which they will normally attract and use for propulsion. Otherwise, they would all be becoming 'visible' and MANY more reports would be flooding in (not to mention 'complaints'.... We're already getting quite a few from all around the world, but what seems like this to us, is really quite 'small' when considering the total population numbers. Visible sightings still remain as 'rare' and awesome 'mysterious' events--since the beginning of man's written history...

There is a correlation between their appearance in energy density and numbers at the beginning of lightning storm activity with all the additional energy/free electrons in the atmosphere, which tapers off once the frontal boundary passes. We have discovered by watching our local weather map predictions that one of the best times to photograph plasma orbs is when a low pressure zone passes over us. We also like to watch our barometer gauge for dropping pressure.

There are many other common sources of energy refueling available to the orbs in our isolated study area. We have seen that not only can they pick up additional electrons from atmospheric storms, they also can be photographed more easily in areas which have high levels of EMF (electro-magnetic field) energy which can be gauged by using inexpensive hand-held meters like a Gauss meter. Some of our group experiments using a variety of different equipent detected a large concentration of them around high power electric lines and towers at night time. From studying the experiment results, we discovered that they can even transfer energy between themselves when they come in contact with each other. If we apply Coulomb's Law, two charged objects which come into contact will divide the charge in proportion to their capacitances. For photo illustrations of them doing this, please refer to Table of Contents, Section III-Sample Digital Images-High Energy Density Spheres. A smaller diameter orb which touches a larger diameter orb will cause the larger one to become more 'dense' in appearance and brighter--perhaps even white.

While the race is on among plasma energy physicists to create magnetoplasmoid "formed ball lightnings" in laboratory plasma fusion generators, stability continues to be a problem. The lower tropospheric orbs in our study seem to have remarkable stability in their normal less 'excited' quantum energy states, which will require much closer and more detailed studies in the future. This means getting OUT of the labs and away from 'man-made' technology, in order to study our 'natural' environment from a new perspective. Far too much money has been allocated to these endeavors with no substantial progress in our opinion (useful to mankind).

The "orbs" in this study have MANY unique attributes which are not presently explainable by known laws of physics, the chief among them being that their movements are not random or linear. We have studied numerous video tapes of them in motion by dedicated researchers using a variety of manufacturers/equipment. Our "think tank" is continuing to develop new "hypotheses", which take into consideration the concept of unified force fields and how they might be interacting with lower tropospheric plasma orb spheres (refer to our Home Page "Links" button for additional source information).
With so many unanswered questions still before us, we feel "Unified Field Plasmoids" is a great research field for multidisciplinary team efforts which may be entitled to research grant funding. Bright and curious minds with a sense of "adventure" are needed in the fields of lower tropospheric plasma physics, quantum mechanics, math and specialized photography to begin contributing their individual talents to this wide open and exciting field of research. And, the orbs are sure to open a real "Pandora's Box" for philosophy professors brave enough to entertain open discussions about them in the future....

This is a brief synopsis of some of the relevant physical observables and correlations we have discovered since 2000. Our mission of getting a 'scientific name' established for the 'orbs' (we like UFP's--Unified Field Plasmoids), is so that people from all countries in the world who have an interest can find each other and share their discoveries (and look for correlations) with others more easily on the Internet. Our English nickname for them of 'orbs' has come into widespread usage as a result of most people first hearing about them through the discoveries of paranormal researchers like 'ghost hunters'. But they are also known by many other names and descriptions by people in many other geographic regions around the world, some very ancient. We believe that a better understanding of UFP's will provide the keys to unlocking many new exciting doors of discovery not only in the field of science, but in our personal lives, as well.
