Eksaarde, Flanders, Belgium Orbs
Since going on-line with Orb Study in June 2002, we have been receiving an ever increasing number of photos from many other countries around the world. This submission comes to us from Marc Steurbaut, an exhibition photographer who uses a Sony F717 5 megapixel digital camera, and who resides in Gent, Belgium.
Marc's primary interest has been concentrated around ancient sacred and holy sites, and he has been exploring his theories related to orbs and natural "earth energies", which seem to frequently occur in many of the locations which he has discovered and can be detected with electro-magnetic field detection equipment. The "Kruiskapel" (Cross Chapel-erected 1626) is an old place of pilgrimage in Eksaarde, Flanders, Belgium. The legend tells that a farmer found two crosses on this spot while digging, left by some crusaders from Byzantium (Roman Empire capital-330AD, now Istanbul). The well, which one orb is centered over, dates from the beginnings of the first century. It is thought to have been a Celtic "holy place", where Marc reports that several "ley lines" cross. If you look closely, you will note that one orb can also be seen partially behind the cross on its upper right side.
